At the Andover YMCA, members can enjoy an impressive swimming pool equipped with multiple features, including a leisure pool perfect for young children. With slides and a zero-entry area, this space is genuinely good for kids, ensuring they have fun while staying active. Additionally, the facility houses a sauna and a hot tub, providing relaxation and recovery options after a workout. The basketball court available at the YMCA is another highlight, hosting various games and activities throughout the week. Membership is required to access these facilities, which often leads to feedback from members regarding the accessibility of certain areas during peak times.

Child Care Services

This commitment to accessibility extends to program offerings and service options available to all members.

Member Experiences

While many enjoy the clean and well-maintained facilities, several reviews express concerns regarding overcrowding during certain activities, such as swimming lessons. Some members have noted that, although the amenities are excellent, they often feel limited by capacity restrictions, especially when it comes to the lap pool. Feedback highlights that some days, the pool can be filled beyond capacity, making it difficult for members to utilize the space effectively. Members have also expressed frustration with inconsistent customer service experiences, particularly at the front desk.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, the Andover YMCA offers a robust selection of activities and amenities designed to support community health and engagement. While some aspects could benefit from improvement, such as enhancing accessibility during busy hours and addressing customer service training, the facility remains a popular choice for families and individuals looking to incorporate fitness into their lives. Over the past 2 years, they ran an amazing Get Summer Program for the kids, offering a complimentary 3-month membership! It was a fantastic initiative to ensure the little ones stayed active and engaged during the summer months. However, there hasn't been any mention of it returning this year, which is truly disappointing. I've witnessed firsthand the positive impact this program had on our community, and I sincerely hope they bring it back. The fitness center is top-notch and definitely worthy of a 5-star rating!

Well, since Covid hit, my experience at the gym has definitely shifted. I get that they have to abide by guidelines and all that jazz. However, I'm still shelling out the same amount of cash as pre-Covid times. Now, I have to book a slot to take my little ones for a splash in the pool, they're not allowed to zoom down the slides, the sauna's off-limits, and they're suggesting I do my cardio on the treadmill wearing a mask...which basically means no more treadmill workouts for me. In my humble opinion, the folks running the show at the YMCA should consider cutting us a bit of slack on the fees.

Absolutely love this fitness center. It's always immaculate and well-kept. Having a Subway right on site is super convenient for grabbing a quick bite before or after bringing the little ones for a swim.

Love this place, the staff is super friendly and welcoming! My only minor gripe is the lack of etiquette in the locker room by some members. It's a bit frustrating when there are plenty of open lockers a few feet away, yet someone decides to place their lock right next to mine. Additionally, it's not ideal when someone stands soaking wet directly in front of my locker or sits down naked on the bench after a long sauna session. Let's also remember not to use the hair dryer for drying certain areas. Just a few simple adjustments could make everyone's visit more enjoyable. Overall, the facilities are top-notch, the staff is fantastic, and the cleanliness is remarkable!

I absolutely adore visiting this place. There's such a lot to explore and it's safe enough for me and my mates to wander around alone. The renovations they've done to the interior are posh and fantastic, but I'm not entirely convinced they were essential (gives me a bank-like feel). The only other thing I'd mention is it would be splendid if parents took more care with potty training their kids. I understand accidents happen, but when there have been 50 instances of people peeing, pooping, or puking in the pool in the five years I've been coming here, it's getting a bit out of hand. As a bit of a germophobe, even though I still take a dip in the pool, it does make me feel a bit queasy.
Albert Myers (5/29/25, 7:30 PM):
This YMCA is a tad cozy, as it shares space with the Andover Community Center. The images on many of these reviews can be deceiving. This YMCA features one full court, a pool, sauna, hot tub, and a regular fitness gym. It also boasts a kids' gym and childcare services, although I haven't taken advantage of those.

The spacious basketball court, hockey facilities, and extra ice rinks are not included in the YMCA amenities. There's an additional entrance fee for those since they are part of the community center.

All in all, it wasn't too crowded, the staff was welcoming, and the place was tidy. I'd definitely recommend it and plan on revisiting.
