After forking over a hefty sum of money with them (including pricey personal training sessions that went unused due to starting a job that clashed with the Gym's schedule), the sole way they offer for cancellation in case life takes a turn is to show up in person and put your John Hancock on a form. Then they hit you with the yearly fee that hasn't even come into play yet, along with an extra month's worth of dues. I certainly hope that the extra $35 and my wasted time and gas will be worth it because you've forever lost a potential customer. When I voiced my frustration, the lady at the front desk was quite rude, stating that I had signed an agreement. Yes, she's correct - I did sign a lengthy contract with tons of fine print three years ago, and yes, they have every legal right to charge me more money, but is that a solid business strategy and good customer service?
Well, the gear may be a tad worn down, the team might not always know their stuff (but they're lovely folks), and it can get a bit cramped at peak times. However, if you're after a top-notch gym with expert trainers on-site, head over to one of the "Globo-Gyms" in the area. Personally, I think this spot is fantastic – open 24/7, with a sauna, showers, and all for a bargain compared to other places. If you just need the basics, Johnny's comes highly recommended.
I checked my bank account and noticed that I have been charged multiple times, two or three times in the same month for the past three months. I have talked to three different individuals over the last month, provided evidence, and was informed that the owner would reach out to me promptly to provide a refund.
However, it has been another month now and there have been no developments. I am extremely disappointed and will be reaching out to my bank to initiate a chargeback.
Update: Just a few hours after posting this review, I received a call informing me that my refund is being processed and that it may happen quicker if I delete this review. Special thanks to Teran at the front desk. This situation truly reflects the kind of people who own and manage this gym.
I cannot recommend this place at all.
A jolly good spot to achieve your fitness aspirations. The rates are quite reasonable, and the staff are ever so lovely and proficient at their duties. Never a bother to snag a piece of equipment, and the members are just the bees knees - so polite and pleasant. One of the finest atmospheres I've experienced in a gym in donkey's years. Cheers!
I absolutely adore working out at Johnny's on Overland. The team there is always so warm and inviting (Dustin is just fantastic if you ever have any questions). I was initially a bit hesitant to join due to past issues with membership fees at other gyms, but after a year here, I can confidently say I haven't encountered any problems. They are transparent about their cancellation fees and the once-a-year maintenance fee, which is clearly stated. What a relief! Even when I needed to update my payment card, it was a simple and efficient process. The gym is never too crowded, which I really appreciate, and I absolutely love their 24-hour access. They offer a fantastic variety of classes to choose from, and if you sign up for their email updates, they inform you promptly if there are any cancellations. The only downside is the tempting aroma of donuts wafting in from next door :)
I've been frequenting Johnny's for a couple of years. Prior to the recent change in management, I was thoroughly impressed by their service and pricing.
The previous management used to go above and beyond to assist and be friendly. However, my recent interaction with the new manager, Stacie, was disheartening and appears to align with the experiences of many recent reviewers.
Stacie declined to honor a promotion that she had personally written and distributed via email. She mentioned that I should not have been included in the group eligible for the offer and suggested that it must have been an error that I received the email. I inquired if there was a possibility for the offer to be honored or if we could find a compromise, but her response was a definitive "no," accompanied by an air of annoyance as if my request was an inconvenience.
I am unimpressed by the new management and disappointed that the Johnny's Fitness Center I once cherished seems to have vanished.
This gym is absolutely brilliant, open round the clock! The staff is super friendly, the prices are fantastic, and there's always plenty of space on the machines. Plus, they have a fantastic hardwood floor for skipping rope while listening to my Pandora playlist on the speakers. You can't go wrong with this gym, especially if you're keen on getting into shape.
I'm not sure if it's still the case (this was over 4 years ago), but this particular location, and I can't speak for the entire company, seemed to engage in questionable practices that may have skirted the line of legality. When I signed up, I was instructed to attend an "orientation" the next day. Upon arrival, I discovered that it was a ploy to push me into working with a "personal trainer." At the time, I was only earning minimum wage and couldn't afford such services. During the "orientation," the manager insisted that working out with a partner would make everything easier and kept pushing me to agree. Despite repeatedly expressing my inability to afford a "workout partner," I was eventually coerced into acquiescing. Interestingly, the term "personal trainer" was never explicitly mentioned during this interaction. Strangely, I never signed any contract or agreement to pay $75 monthly for a workout partner. That evening, I received an email informing me of a $75 charge for supposedly signing up for a personal trainer. Given my financial situation at the time, this amount would have had a detrimental impact on me. When I tried to cancel the arrangement, they argued that I was bound by a contract and refused to provide me with a copy.
After persistent efforts, I managed to secure a copy of the so-called "contract" I allegedly signed. To my surprise, it was merely a medical information form affirming the accuracy of the details provided about my health status, such as past asthma or heart issues. Ultimately, I threatened legal action to compel them to cease charging me.
Unless significant changes have been made or there is new ownership in place, I would strongly advise steering clear of this establishment.
I absolutely adore the positive vibes at this fitness center. The team is so professional, yet super friendly. Every time I walk in for a workout, it feels like I'm part of the family. And their bootcamp fit club is just incredible! I had no idea about it until I got a complimentary month's session, and what a revelation it was. The results were mind-blowing! My waist went from 33 inches to 28 inches in no time... I felt more agile and energetic for my sports activities. If you're looking for an amazing squad to train with, I can't recommend this club enough.
The gym is decent if you just require a simple workout. Their machines are not top-notch, but they do the trick. Terminating an account is a bit of a hassle. You need to provide a 30-day notice and they still bill you. The staff turnover is quite high and the trainers can be bothersome. Their classes tend to occupy a significant amount of space, reducing availability for other activities. A two-star rating for an inexpensive 24-hour gym...beware of sporadic $25 charges that pop up a few times annually...what a surprise!
Johnny’s Fit Club is absolutely smashing! The membership procedure is as easy as pie, and they make sure to explain all the rules crystal clear when you join. I can't recommend this gym enough for anyone in search of a top-notch spot to get their workout on!
