LA Fitness Agoura Hills: A Comprehensive Review

If you're considering joining LA Fitness in Agoura Hills, California, you'll want to know what this gym has to offer. With a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere, this facility boasts a range of amenities and activities for both casual exercisers and serious fitness enthusiasts.

Membership Required

Before you can take advantage of the facilities, it's important to note that membership is required. Many reviews suggest that while the membership process can be straightforward, some encountered issues with staff and sales tactics, which detracted from their initial excitement about joining.

Planning Your Visit

When planning your visit to LA Fitness, consider peak hours as it tends to get crowded, especially after work. Some members have commented on difficulties finding available machines during busy times. Arriving during off-peak hours may enhance your experience, providing easier access to equipment.

Atmosphere and Community

The atmosphere at LA Fitness is generally regarded as friendly and inclusive. Many patrons appreciate the supportiveness of staff members like Maria and Kierra, who contribute to a community feel. However, there are mixed reviews regarding customer service, with some experiencing less-than-friendly interactions at the front desk.

Facilities and Amenities

LA Fitness offers a variety of amenities, including:

  • Shower facilities that are well-maintained, making it convenient for those who wish to freshen up post-workout.
  • A spacious swimming pool, but some members have mentioned the need for reservable lanes for serious swimmers.
  • A full-sized basketball court available for recreational play.
  • Wi-Fi access throughout the gym.
  • A wheelchair-accessible entrance and a car park designed for wheelchair accessibility, ensuring inclusivity for all members.

Accessibility and Cleanliness

A key aspect of any gym experience is accessibility. While the Agoura Hills location is designed with accessibility in mind, some reviews have noted inconsistencies in cleanliness. Members have expressed concerns about the state of locker rooms and equipment maintenance. Regular cleaning appears to be an area needing improvement based on feedback.

Final Thoughts

Overall, LA Fitness in Agoura Hills offers a solid gym experience with various amenities and a community-oriented environment. The range of classes, including Pilates, is well received, particularly the positive feedback surrounding instructors like July and Nazanin.

However, be prepared for the possibility of overcrowding during peak hours and potential challenges during the membership signup process. If you’re seeking a gym that balances affordability and a comprehensive workout environment, LA Fitness could be the right fit for you.

This gym is looking quite tidy and well-kept. I pop in there about once a month to have a casual shootaround on the basketball courts with a couple of mates. So far, the other members I've crossed paths with have all seemed like decent folks.

However, last night, there was a bit of a kerfuffle between some seasoned chaps and a crew of youngsters hogging both courts for their 5-on-5 game. It seemed like a couple of the young lads were provoking the older gents into a confrontation.

I feel compelled to share my experience due to the outstanding work and professionalism of Eddie at the reception. Eddie successfully diffused the tension between the groups, preventing what could have been a messy situation for everyone involved. He managed to calm things down and persuaded the young fellas to share the courts.

Top-notch job, Eddie! You might just have a promising future in negotiations ahead of you!

This gym is absolutely fantastic and just what Agoura Hills needed. The showers and gym facilities are in pristine condition. They don't rigorously enforce the nonsensical mask mandates, allowing us to work out without a sweaty and ineffective mask. My only gripe is that the parking lot can get scorching hot under the summer sun. Hopefully, those trees will grow quickly to provide some much-needed shade.

Worst experience of my life, mate! This gym is a total rip-off!! I shelled out $200, which was alright, but then they spring the annual fee on me and threaten to slap on extra charges if I'm late with payment?? When I rocked up at the gym with cash to settle the tab, they wouldn't take it because they couldn't give me change. I offered to let them keep the extra, but they refused. I had to escalate things to the manager and it was an absolute shambles. The vibes were so negative and disheartening. Canceling my membership was a nightmare too, with the constant calls and sneaky fees. Proper gutted. Avoid this gym like the plague, they're a bunch of thieving scallywags!

I have frequented many gyms throughout my life, and I must say, this one truly stands out as the worst. If you are considering becoming a member, I strongly advise you to reconsider. It is without a doubt the busiest gym I have ever seen, constantly crowded with people. The atmosphere is quite unpleasant as well, as members can be incredibly rude. They often stand around and openly stare while I am deadlifting, trying to intimidate me into relinquishing the equipment. They will even argue with you to get you to vacate a machine or insist on sharing it with you. Proper gym etiquette seems to be nonexistent here. Almost every time I work out, I find myself subjected to the disrespectful behavior of other members. This is not a conducive environment for a healthy workout routine, and I regret joining. On a positive note, I must mention that the staff have all been very friendly.

Absolutely smashing gym, mate! The ground floor is decked out with top-notch weightlifting machines, while the second floor boasts a range of cardio equipment. It's budget-friendly and offers a diverse selection of gear. Met some proper friendly folks here, too. Only thing I reckon could improve it is a juice bar, but they've got a vending machine for grabbing a cold water or energy drinks. Cheers!

I must say, my experience at this gym was rather unwelcoming. I found it quite disappointing that despite my efforts to greet the front desk with a friendly wave, they didn't acknowledge me. It's evident that this gym caters to a predominantly white and affluent clientele, as I couldn't help but notice the unpleasant stares directed towards me for not "fitting the description." Despite these drawbacks, I will admit that the facilities are top-notch. However, if you happen to be Latino or a person of color, don't anticipate feeling a sense of belonging in this establishment.
Johnny Gonzalez (5/3/25, 8:12 PM):
My wife and I 'ave been 'ittin' the gym for a few years now, and we always find it squeaky clean with machines available when we need 'em. My missus 'as been doin' sessions with a personal trainer every week, and she's been seein' some real progress. We're plannin' to keep at it for many more years. Our go-to trainer is Josh Meraz, top bloke 'e is.
Judy Alexander (4/30/25, 5:15 PM):
I must say, this gym is truly magnificent! It offers ample space, a remarkable array of top-notch equipment for strength training, cardio, functional fitness, and beyond. And I simply can't overlook the exceptional assistance provided by Kierra. Major kudos to her!
Stephen Parker (4/29/25, 8:28 PM):
Fantastic gym, does tend to get quite busy during peak hours, as to be expected. The weights have a habit of being scattered around the gym, so you might find yourself on a bit of a scavenger hunt.

If you're looking to steer clear of the crowds, the Newbury Park LA Fitness appears to be a more serene option. Overall, I'd give this gym a resounding thumbs up emoji 👍
Victoria Hamilton (4/28/25, 4:21 PM):
Mate, let me tell you about this La Fitness spot in the Valley - it's been top notch in terms of friendliness and welcoming vibes. It was my first visit, and Christian over in the Sales department really went the extra mile to assist me and address all my queries. The gym is proper clean and kitted out with quality equipment. Cheers!
Jerry Richardson (4/28/25, 1:50 PM):
I fancied giving this gym a go for the 3-day pass as it's close to my gaff and some mates of mine are regulars here. The moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by Elijah, who was proper polite and gave me a tour of the gym, showing me the ropes. Top bloke, he was. The equipment is spot on and the vibe is fantastic. Definitely gonna be back for more sessions.
Sophia Hamilton (4/28/25, 9:23 AM):
This gym is a top spot for weightlifting, but I have to knock off a star because apparently, you need to sign up at the front desk to reserve a lane in the pool. Can you believe it? I was swimming in someone else's lane when I found out about this sign-up sheet. I've never encountered this at an LA Fitness pool before. Apparently, it's only for lanes 1 and 3. Lane 2 is first come, first served, but get this - the reservation is only for a 30-minute slot. So if you're serious about your training...this may not be the best choice for a pool session. Oh, and by the way, the water is surprisingly warm.
Terry Roberts (4/25/25, 8:54 AM):
We absolutely adore the team at LA Fitness. Our coach, Ben L., is top-notch. Jeo, Maria, Olivia, and Naz are also truly fantastic. Every single person has been incredibly supportive and friendly towards us. The gym is spotless and has such a fantastic atmosphere. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Keith Ortiz (4/25/25, 7:37 AM):
Fantastic gym, fantastic community, and truly top-notch staff. The folks here are incredibly welcoming, chatty, and consistently ready to lend a hand. I must give a shoutout to Elijah and Maria for their consistently positive attitudes and genuine interest in getting to know people without any ulterior motives. I wholeheartedly endorse this gym to all!
Diana Ramos (4/25/25, 2:30 AM):
I absolutely adore the Pilates classes at the gym. The instructors are top-notch, but July’s classes are truly a cut above the rest. She’s incredibly friendly and does a fantastic job of breaking down the movements. If someone’s form is slightly off, she’ll discreetly make adjustments without causing any embarrassment. It’s clear that she’s dedicated to helping everyone improve their practice.
