Ninja U Obstacle Training Gym stands out as a premier spot for aspiring ninjas and families alike. Located conveniently in Ankeny, Iowa, this gym offers a plethora of features that cater to various needs, ensuring a memorable experience for everyone who steps through its doors.

On-Site Services and Amenities

At Ninja U, patrons can enjoy a range of on-site services designed to enhance their experience. From a clean and well-maintained facility to friendly and knowledgeable staff, every detail is tailored to ensure comfort and safety. Additionally, the gym boasts Wi-Fi access, allowing parents to stay connected while their kids navigate obstacles.

Accessibility Features

Ninja U is committed to inclusivity, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park. The facility also includes gender-neutral toilets, promoting a welcoming environment for all visitors. These thoughtful features reflect the gym's dedication to accessibility, making it an excellent choice for families with diverse needs.

A Unique Experience for Young Ninjas

While Ninja U is a fantastic place for kids passionate about the American Ninja Warrior lifestyle, it does present unique challenges for casual visitors. Reviews indicate that if your child isn't specifically interested in ninja training, the setup may not cater effectively to free play. Most obstacles are designed at heights suitable for adults, which may limit younger children’s engagement. However, for those who embrace the challenge, the excitement is palpable. The gym features numerous stations allowing young ninjas to develop their skills, although the lack of continuous runs may deter those looking for a more traditional play structure. Nonetheless, many kids thrive in this environment, showcasing impressive skills as they jump, climb, and navigate their way through the courses.

Community Feel and Supportive Staff

The atmosphere at Ninja U is marked by a sense of community. Regulars and staff members often build relationships that foster a supportive environment. Many parents have praised the staff for their attentiveness, particularly when supervising children during activities. Coaches go above and beyond, especially for neurodivergent children, ensuring each kid feels accepted and comfortable.

Perfect for Birthdays and Special Events

Ninja U has proven to be an exceptional venue for birthday parties. Families have shared positive experiences regarding how much fun their children had celebrating there. The availability of a toilet facility and other amenities makes hosting events a breeze, though it’s worth noting that storing cold treats can be a limitation due to minimal refrigeration options.

Overall Impression and Recommendations

In summary, Ninja U Obstacle Training Gym is a vibrant destination for both training and family entertainment. With a variety of service options and an emphasis on accessibility, it caters to many needs while providing a fun and engaging environment for all ages. Although there may be some room for improvement in terms of obstacle configuration for younger children, the overwhelming sentiment is one of enjoyment and satisfaction. If you're in Ankeny, Iowa, and looking for a place where kids can burn off energy, learn new skills, or celebrate special occasions, Ninja U should definitely be on your list!

Outstanding Ninja gym. Just as good, if not better, than the ones I've come across in Chicago.
David Morris (6/3/25, 4:21 PM):
During our recent journey out yonder, we were at last able to make a pit stop at Ninja U! We've been keeping up with the gym owner ever since their initial YouTube pointers on the BackYardNinjas. The fresh establishment in Ankeny was absolutely brilliant! Nate, the supervisor, was extremely hospitable and full of enthusiasm with my lads. The gym was spotless, shiny and new; my children were overjoyed to tackle all the obstacles. We most definitely plan on coming back!

An excellent spot to emulate or exercise like your beloved American ninja warrior. (You never know, you might even spot a couple of them there like we did!) The staff is super fun and friendly, and truly knowledgeable. We dropped by during our vacation, and my daughter had an absolute blast!
Kelly Graham (5/31/25, 6:29 PM):
My lad took part in a WNL contest at this gym. The competition went off without a hitch, right on schedule. They even live-streamed it with some cracking background banter, and the place had some proper good viewing spots. Plus, it was toasty warm in there, so my hands didn't turn into ice blocks - a real treat during these chilly winters.
Bradley Lee (5/31/25, 6:16 PM):
We recently organized a birthday bash at Ninja U and it was absolutely fantastic. The team was really friendly and the little ones had a blast navigating through all the challenging obstacles. It was such a seamless experience and I would definitely give it a big thumbs up.
