In brief, Albert Lu is a guru when it comes to optimizing running performance. I must admit, I'm not particularly fond of running, but needed to prepare for a physical examination as part of my law enforcement application process. This exam encompassed a range of physical challenges, and Albert guided me through training for the 75-yard sprint/obstacle course and a 1.5-mile run that had to be completed in under 12:30 minutes.

A little background on me: I had been practicing CrossFit for three years before meeting Albert. After relocating, I dabbled in weight lifting for the following three years, with minimal outdoor running - if I could avoid it, I would. However, when I did have to run, I gave it my all.

Four weeks before my test, Albert provided me with a weekly schedule detailing when to run, distances, rest periods, and trial runs. My initial timed trial clocked in at 13:45, decent but not outstanding. Suffering from sore calves, Albert pointed out that my forefoot landing was excessive and suggested I focus on heel kissing instead. This adjustment worked wonders; my calf pain subsided, and my quads felt more engaged after running sessions during the week. In preparation for the 1.5-mile run, Albert incorporated interval sprints rather than continuous long-distance running - a style that suited me perfectly, short and snappy.

By the end of the second week, I had shaved my 1.5-mile time down to 13 minutes - a significant improvement. Albert maintained my training plan and regularly checked in on my progress.

My final trial run before the physical exam clocked in at 11:42, mostly consisting of sprints with walking breaks. Feeling confident, I was ready to ace my test.

On exam day, the sprints kicked off the proceedings, and I breezed through them before tackling the remaining tests without a hitch. The 1.5-mile run took place outdoors on a dirt track, with temperatures around 92F. Despite training indoors on a treadmill, I managed to finish in 12:10 - a result that left me overjoyed.

Many thanks to Al for his unwavering support, availability to address queries, and valuable advice. I wholeheartedly recommend his services!

I've been coming 'ere for five years now. This place is absolutely brilliant. The great camaraderie, the small classes with top-notch instruction, and the outdoor rig. It's simply fantastic.

Had an amazing gym sesh today. Finally grasped the proper form for running, turns out I've been doing it all wrong! Definitely suggest giving it a go.
Melissa Carter (4/10/25, 10:12 PM):
I encountered Albert a couple of weeks before my 24-hour track event, where I was having difficulty with my running form. He introduced me to the Pose technique, and after a few Zoom sessions (considering I reside in Australia), I managed to run in the Pose style. I diligently worked with him on the "pull, pull, pull" aspect, which became one of my mantras during the event. Despite never having run for 24 hours straight before, I covered 122kms. Remarkably, I had no injuries leading up to the event after experiencing several months of nagging pains. Moreover, I didn't encounter any issues afterward. Albert's support was incredible, and I highly recommend learning the Pose technique. It has truly revolutionized my journey in ultrarunning! The phrase "pull, pull, pull" has become ingrained in my mind, bringing me immense joy. Take a leap and give it a try—I'm certain you won't be disappointed. Thank you, Albert!
Denise Rogers (4/7/25, 7:20 PM):
IMA is absolutely brilliant! Albert is incredibly knowledgeable and has really made a difference for me with his POSE method of running. I can now go further and faster without any pain!
Christina Morris (4/7/25, 7:31 AM):
I've been a member of Audacious CrossFit for over two years now. My motivation for doing CrossFit is to maintain an active Idaho lifestyle (hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, etc.) as I age past middle age and to try to keep up with my athletic teenage son. Albert is a stickler for proper lifting form to avoid injury, which I really appreciate. I've learned the correct form for lifting exercises and running while attending this gym, and I continue to learn daily!
Allison Evans (4/6/25, 4:05 PM):
Albert is an amazing coach and truly personable. Unlike many other CrossFit coaches, he dedicates the time to ensure your form is correct to prevent injuries and collaborates with you to address any ongoing issues. He is also fantastic at tailoring workouts to accommodate existing injuries. Additionally, he excels as a running coach and assisted me in achieving a mile time quicker than I had ever imagined. Audacious CrossFit is an excellent gym with a wonderful community and an absolutely fantastic coach. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to take their training in the valley seriously.
