After the Connecticut Ave locale shut its doors, I endeavored to maintain a positive outlook on using this new location. Initially, it was packed, but I adapted. However, in recent months, this gym has deteriorated to the point where it's almost laughable. There are numerous issues:

1. It has become incredibly overcrowded during peak hours, making it nearly impossible to get a workout in (tonight I just left after 15 minutes). It seems inconceivable that they're not overbooked. The place was genuinely a fire hazard at 6:30 pm today.

2. There is hardly any space for stretching, while there's a whole vacant studio that remains locked. People are constantly crammed into the tiny stretching area with mats that are falling apart.

3. The pool used to be one of the few good things about this otherwise average gym. But now, they've started closing it at 7:30 pm, forcing everyone to contend with a kids' swim class that occupies half of the pool until 7 pm. They claim it's because the city mandates a lifeguard, which they can't seem to find... right.

4. Equipment is frequently out of order or falling apart.

5. Due to fraud, I had to replace my credit card, which resulted in my membership payment not going through. When I went to the gym and provided the new card, they slapped me with a $20 late fee, even though it was just one day late. They can't be bothered to hire a lifeguard or replace grimy mats, but they are very prompt about billing and fees!

It feels like this gym is progressively lowering its standards to see how shabby it can become before I throw in the towel and seek membership elsewhere. It's a pity because there seems to be a core group of regulars who really enjoy it there, or at least once did. I must have missed the period when this gym wasn't chaotic.

Overall, pretty good. If you see a machine that's always in use, it's a good idea to have a second one available. I'm talking to you, Leg Extension machine.

Moreover, personal trainers tend to take weights to the PT room and forget to put them back on the floor.

I absolutely adore attending all of Ms. Tamara Coleman's classes. She is an exceptional instructor for Pilates, Burns, Core Cross Training, Total Body Conditioning, and Aquatic exercise. I really appreciate the NYSC for its convenient location. The gym boasts a wide array of exercise equipment, a pleasant atmosphere, and numerous classes that can accommodate any schedule. It's spotless, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. After a strenuous day at work, the gym provides me with some much-needed quality "me time." I always leave feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.
Evelyn Myers (4/18/25, 5:27 AM):
It's been some time since I gave the gym a four-star rating. The gym is spotless, the equipment is consistently in good condition, and there is an abundance of weights available. The staff is unfailingly courteous and the members are respectful towards one another.
Albert Baker (4/17/25, 6:31 PM):
Quite a lovely gym for the cost and amenities, I must say! It only sets you back $20 per month. They offer a swimming pool, free weights section, various classes, a sauna, powerlifting areas, cardio machines, and much more.

It does tend to get quite busy in the evenings, so one might have to wait a bit to get on the machines, but folks are generally quite understanding about it. All in all, a really splendid gym, I must admit.
Keith Ortiz (4/17/25, 7:08 AM):
I've been a member for about 22 months and it's been generally alright, for the money. Overall, I would suggest looking elsewhere if you can afford it. I haven't visited other WSCs so I can't comment on them; this gym is more budget-friendly compared to others in the area, but the downside is that the cardio machines are often poorly maintained or out of order for long periods of time, the locker room (at least the men's) is usually not very clean, and the staff is average. I haven't taken any classes or worked with any fitness trainers, but the staff appear rather indifferent and don't make much effort to be welcoming or helpful as you might expect at more upscale gyms. Typically, the cardio and weightlifting areas are quite crowded on weekdays from 6-8pm, but you can usually find equipment available or wait a few minutes for something to become free.
