I've been at the gym for a year now, and I must say, I've picked up some useful pointers from the coaches. They can be a bit tough at times, but hey, no pain, no gain, right? Despite the occasional colorful language, it's a fantastic spot. The original owner has moved on, but the coaches continue to run things smoothly and maintain order. They even extend the generosity of complimentary lessons for special occasions. Cheers to that!

I ain't usually one to be droppin' a review, but let me tell ya, American Martial Arts Gym (AMAG) has been an absolute game-changer for me in terms of personal growth, and I feel obliged to share my journey. AMAG is a top-notch spot to be takin' BJJ and kickboxing classes! The instructors are real pros, full of knowledge and always there to give you a boost. The way they break down the classes makes it all crystal clear, even for someone like me, and the higher belts are always on hand to lend their support and offer tips after the initial demo. There's a real sense of community among the students, and a proper camaraderie that you can feel. No matter where you're at on your skills journey, you're always made to feel right at home.
And let me tell you, the kids' classes at AMAG have done wonders for my son, helpin' him build up discipline and a whole lot of confidence.
I can't recommend American Martial Arts Gym enough to anyone, no matter what your goals may be – whether you're lookin' to learn self-defense, get in shape, or take on martial arts competitively. My military duties will be takin' me away from southern Maryland later this year… and if there's one thing I know I'll miss about this place, it's gonna be this amazing gym and the friendships I've made here.

Top-notch spot to pick up jiu-jitsu and kickboxing skills, coaches are absolute gems. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Fantastic for the little ones as well. Personally, I attend the women's class led by Coach Renee, and it's simply superb, just like Renee herself.

I ain't surprised that the dojo be winnin' a lot. The walls are full of trophies and ribbons, even got an award for takin' first place at nationals. The owner won first place when he was in the Army.
I can't imagine a better place for my little one to learn. As a mum of five, I'm mighty impressed by how well the coaches connect with their own families. I was taken aback to see kids as young as three feelin' so confident in that space.
The mix of ages is sorta like homeschooling. The coaches don't go easy on the kids but they do show 'em respect. Safety, progress, and buildin' skills are all spoken of highly.

This gym is absolutely brilliant, I must say! The atmosphere is always so warm and inviting, giving off a real family feel. Coach James is an absolute gem of a coach, the likes of which I've never seen before. And let's not forget about Coach Jonna! They both bring such incredible energy and dedication to ensuring both the children and adults are progressing well. It's truly inspiring to be around such encouraging and empowering individuals! I've developed a real fondness for this place - wouldn't dream of training anywhere else!

I entered this gym without knowing what to anticipate as I am new to the region. The initial observation that struck me was the profound sense of pride emanating from the coaches, which initially caught me off guard. However, it didn't take long for me to understand why they possessed such immense pride... These individuals dedicate themselves to rigorous training sessions, putting forth unrelenting effort for hours on end, and their skill sets are truly genuine. I am honored to be a member of this team and eager to discover the heights I can achieve. This gym is exceptional, and you will obtain a wealth of knowledge.

Fantastic spot to hone your skills and go all out with some top-notch east coast fighters and grapplers. Loads of chances to train, even if you're always on the go. I've been at AMAG for 5 months, and every time I've tried to explain the experience at AMAG, I cannot put into words how life-changing this experience has been for me. It's helped me through some really tough times in my life, through Professor James' raw style of teaching, I've been able to overcome many more things than just becoming a better fighter. It's made me a better father, partner, friend and overall a better man. The atmosphere and people there are like a family. I hope that me sharing my experience could hopefully help someone else in similar ways.

This gym 'as brought so much courage and tenacity to my sons' lives. They are a brother and sisterhood that brings a sense of belonging to young men. As a single Mum of a nine and six year old, I was fortunate to meet Coach James and 'is wife. My sons took to the sport almost right away and I love that it is every day! I love 'ow I 'ave seen my sons grow with the coaches and in tournaments and now I even do it meself in the adult class! You cannot go wrong with AMAG!!

I absolutely love bringing my 3 kids to the training sessions, and I must say, the young coaches are doing a fantastic job with the students. They have a knack for refining fighting stances, techniques, and strikes all while managing the challenges of instructing over 15 students at once. 👍👍...
