I've been taking the little one swimming. It's never too busy. They have lockers, showers, and 1 family room that can get a bit crowded at times. Overall, always a good experience.

The time I went there for a morning workout was fine, but when they altered the morning schedule, it really messed up my routine.

Oh my stars! My, oh my, what a dreadful situation you've found yourself in! Bless your heart, it's truly heartbreaking to hear that your sweet children, ages 8 and 9, are now feeling frightened of the police. Goodness gracious, at 42 years old, one would never have imagined being escorted out of the YWCA by the constabulary right in front of your little ones! If you were thinking of taking your darlings for a swim indoors, I must kindly advise against it! The very first time my precious girls were reprimanded by the lifeguard for employing boogie boards as flotation aides, I tried explaining that they had been allowed to do so on previous visits. To my astonishment, he retorted that some other lifeguards may not adhere to the rules, but he certainly does! Can you even imagine? Then, on their second offense of frolicking near a rope or in a designated lane, goodness me, I lost count! By the fourth or fifth time, he had even wrangled an aerobics instructor into the mix. Both of these individuals seemed to be fixated on us, almost as if we were misbehaving school children! The instructor stood vigilantly until, at last, my daughter leaped off the ladder one step from the bottom, despite already being scolded for sitting too close to it! Can you believe it? Scolding innocent children for innocently splashing in a pool? My poor dears were left in tears, petrified of this lady on a power trip! Feeling under the weather, when she loomed over me, I had to implore her to step back out of my personal space as I sat on the bleachers, trying to keep an eye on my distraught kids. And then, can you fathom this? She threatened to involve the authorities because I declined to disclose my name! Now I find myself banned from the YWCA after paying for a six-month membership, with a criminal complaint lodged against me by the police when I should have been the aggrieved party! At 42 years old, never having encountered the law before, and boasting over 500 ribbons and trophies from 15 years of competitive swimming at the YWCA, I am utterly aghast! Alas, this world can be a harsh and unkind place for our little ones to navigate. I requested that the footage of the staff's conduct be reviewed, and I also wish for my name to be cleared. I was the one calmly seated, and I did not appreciate being yelled at and spat upon by the lady towering above me, bellowing into my face! If you are seeking a safe haven for your children to frolic and let off steam, let me tell you this: the YWCA is certainly NOT the locale to invest your hard-earned money in! In closing, let me lament the plight of our dear children! Oh, the innocence lost in a world so challenging and cruel!

The Y is the best-kept secret in Gettysburg. I never understand why it's not bustling all the time. Of course, I am grateful for the spaciousness! The facilities and classes are fantastic.
Bryan Russell (4/30/25, 1:40 AM):
A fantastic spot to work out, catch up with your mates, and exercise together. The Y offers a plethora of fantastic programs to participate in. Silver Sneakers is an excellent initiative tailored for older adults.
