It would be really helpful if someone could assist seniors with learning how to use and operate the exercise equipment. The recreation center is fantastic though, and we really enjoy our time there!
Margaret Cox (4/10/25, 8:20 AM):
Lovely recreational spot for a workout. Offers discounts for college students and a wide variety of exercise options.
Jeremy James (4/10/25, 3:03 AM):
Lovely spot for a day out. Tons of activities to enjoy. We're fortunate to have such a gem in our community.
Keith Smith (4/10/25, 1:40 AM):
So, a couple of weeks back, I took my dear mum to the Coomes Center to check out the swimming options for an elderly lady like her. The pool hours, both indoor and outdoor, are just not convenient at all. There are hardly any open swim times available now. The pricing is quite steep for college students and military personnel as well. While we were inspecting the pool area, my mum was met by a rather large lady who was incredibly brusque. The Coomes Center used to be a blast when I was a kid, but it has sadly turned into a major letdown in my opinion.
Abigail Ramos (4/9/25, 5:15 PM):
The vast playground area and the inviting lobby make this a fantastic place for families to pop in. We will surely take advantage of it when we stay overnight in Abingdon during our travels.
Zachary Torres (4/9/25, 3:34 PM):
Aye, whilst the playgrounds, pools, and gyms may be rather fine, I must say that the skaters and skatepark have been sadly overlooked. The ramps are beginning to peel up, and everything seems to be set up all wrong.
Frank Reynolds (4/9/25, 2:42 PM):
Reasonably priced family enjoyment. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, running track, gym equipment, basketball court, and group fitness sessions available. Child supervision services are also offered.
Margaret Foster (4/8/25, 3:53 PM):
My granddaughter was playing volleyball. The gym is rather petite and lacks sufficient seating... the staff weren't particularly welcoming either... but for a spot to play volleyball, it gets the job done.
Teresa Watson (4/7/25, 8:42 PM):
I'm quite disappointed by the lack of shade. With the temperature at a balmy 72 degrees, my child and I were feeling exhausted after just 35 minutes of play under the scorching sun. Fortunately, we managed to find a shady spot to rest under one of the castle structures. It seems that swimming lessons were underway indoors at that time, with the outdoor pool season still yet to begin. I'm thinking of enrolling my child for lessons this summer once he turns 4.
Anna Long (4/7/25, 12:47 PM):
Fantastic recreational area suitable for all ages, with ample space for kids to frolic and have fun. The swimming pool and gym are conveniently located just across the parking area.
Charles Roberts (4/7/25, 1:35 AM):
This facility in Abingdon is very tidy, well-run, and properly maintained, providing something for the entire family.
Paul Gonzales (4/6/25, 11:39 PM):
Wonderful spot for a birthday bash! The staff is so friendly and the party rooms are massive. And let me tell you, the park is absolutely beautiful.
Gloria Gutierrez (4/6/25, 5:28 AM):
I 'ave 'em 3 stars because I mainly use the gym for basketball. However, I feel they 'ave too many other activities in the main gym throughout the week. Other than that it's a great place to come work out, run and swim.😊😊😊 …
Sharon Morales (4/5/25, 8:42 AM):
A splendid spot to while away the day lounging poolside or getting in a good workout, it's truly a stunning locale.
Henry Reynolds (4/3/25, 5:58 PM):
They 'ave a truly splendid track outside the buildin' that's abart a mile long which ye can stroll.
Joan Martin (4/3/25, 4:02 AM):
The staff, they can be a bit rude, you know? And they don't really seem to care much about the folks coming in. Good luck trying to get a dip in the pool, mate. It ain't worth the dosh you'll fork out to sign up, especially if you're living outside of town.
Gabriel Henderson (4/2/25, 4:57 AM):
Whether thou dost love to swim indoors or outdoors, catch a workout, playeth at the park, play basketball, take a stroll around the track, or enjoy the skate park, there is simply something to do for all!
Andrew Price (4/2/25, 2:50 AM):
We reside in Abingdon, and thus far, our main hangout spots have been the playgrounds here, which are absolutely delightful - we now have two of them. The special events they organize are fantastic, especially the 4th of July celebrations. The pool is also quite impressive, with a massive outdoor area that we've enjoyed multiple times; although, we've only stepped foot inside the indoor pool on a single occasion. For those interested, there's also a skate park available. Furthermore, there's a lovely walking trail that we have yet to explore. It seems like we need to make more frequent visits!
Beverly Ward (3/31/25, 3:28 PM):
As a local, I frequent the Rec Center often! The outdoor trail encircling the premises is perfect for a jog, and the indoor pool is fantastic during the colder months. Additionally, the pickleball courts and outdoor volleyball are excellent facilities. For those with young children, the playground is top-notch in the vicinity, and there's even a skate park for the older kids. If you're a visiting family, this makes for an excellent location to engage in some activities in between visiting attractions!
Jose Peterson (3/30/25, 10:20 PM):
This park is brilliant! I adore how the playground is shaded and offers both wooden and plastic play structures. It's usually quite peaceful, never overrun with children or congested. However, it can be rather windy, so be sure to pack an extra jacket or scarf as the strong gusts, combined with the shade, can make it feel colder than expected!
