Hey everyone, I wanted to share my New Year's resolution with you all! It's not something I normally do, but this year I decided to make a change - I resolved to learn how to swim. I signed up for six classes for $150 and they began on January 1st. Tomorrow is my final class and I can't believe the progress I've made. I swam back and forth yesterday, going from 3 feet to 10 feet at the Wade Aquatic Center. I'm really proud of myself ❤️ At 48 years old, it's never too late to learn something new!

I am so grateful to the team at Kids First Swim School in Waldorf, MD. Learning to swim means I can now save my own life!!!

I absolutely adore attending this swimming school - their instructors and staff are top-notch, I simply can't get enough of them!

I am writing to express my concerns about the issues in the chain of command at the swimming school. There seems to be a problem with nepotism, as family members are being hired to work on the same shift. Additionally, the unprofessional behavior of a teenage employee (aged 16) is unacceptable.

In a recent incident, the teenage employee displayed aggressive behavior by raising his voice and using profanity towards a 15-year-old client who did not want to dive due to safety concerns. Even though the manager stated that the client did not have to dive, the teenager reacted poorly.

When the client reported the incident to the manager, she handled it with some professionalism but seemed to favor her son's (slightly fabricated) version of events. This situation highlights a need for better management and training at the swimming school to ensure a safe and professional environment for both employees and clients.

Top spot in the city to instruct them on swimming. The establishment is snug and tidy, creating a pleasant experience.
Ella Butler (5/8/25, 11:40 PM):
The lessons have been going swimmingly and the fees are quite reasonable. Would highly recommend, 10/10.
Teresa Gutierrez (5/8/25, 2:52 AM):
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My lad was almost in a spot of bother. The bloke in charge turned his back, and the poor nipper slipped into the water. The dreadful 20 seconds I tell ya. Not a word of apology from anyone. Unsafe number of students per teacher. Certain instructors ain't cut out for handling little ones with special needs, or they simply don't want to bother. Some instructors ain't even teaching, just letting the kiddies muck about in the water with toys. The loos and changing rooms are absolutely vile. The entire place needs a proper revamp.
Gloria Hayes (5/7/25, 1:20 PM):
The instructor for the mommy and me program is absolutely brilliant. My husband actually goes with my daughter, and I adore watching them having such a jolly good time in the pool. So thrilled I made the decision to enroll, and it's smashing to have one nearby home - my daughter absolutely adores it!
Gabriel Rogers (5/3/25, 11:47 AM):
After completing a 6-week course, my daughters have not progressed to the next level. The 30-minute classes do not allow each child to receive the necessary attention to advance. Upon entering the pool myself, I found the pool bottom to be very slippery, and the pool walls had accumulated dirt, similar to a bath tub's ring of grime. The bathrooms are less than sanitary. The staff appeared disorganized and were unable to locate any files on my daughters containing information about their progress. When I decided not to continue with our enrollment for a course starting over a month away, I was informed that no refunds would be issued. I am being compelled to continue despite being dissatisfied with the services. I'm unsure if my experience reflects all locations, but I would not recommend enrolling in this swimming school.
Gary Anderson (4/27/25, 1:54 AM):
I paid a visit for my child's baptism. Everything was very well arranged and in perfect order. It was just lovely.
Carolyn Powell (4/23/25, 8:58 AM):
I say, the value for money wasn't quite up to snuff, I must admit. There were 5-6 youngsters to every instructor in a mere 30-minute session, resulting in a paltry 6 minutes of the instructor's focus per child. The ratio of kids to instructors struck me as rather unsafe, if you ask me.
Larry Jordan (4/20/25, 7:58 AM):
They're brilliant until they have your dosh! Have you ever forked over some cash thinking you'd have a grand old time, only to realize it's a right bother? Well, that's precisely what Kids First Swim School will give you. I bought a package and it's been a complete nightmare trying to book regular classes with the same teacher, or receive any sort of professional replies to worries. I wouldn't suggest this service to anyone.
Bryan Hayes (4/20/25, 1:44 AM):
I 'ave a very good impression of this swim school at first, although I do find it rather pricey. I could 'ave chosen a different swim school for me daughter, but I reckon the amount I'm payin' is worth it. Me daughter 'as reached Level 6 already and just today, the receptionist informed me that the instructor thinks she should go back to Level 4 because she's 'avin' trouble with 'er arms. It left me a bit shocked. I was in a bit of a rush as me other son was gettin' sleepy, and I didn't want to discuss it further, especially with me daughter present and other folks around.

If the instructor reckons she ain't ready for Level 6 yet, then it's fine by me that she goes back to Level 4. But I wonder why the other instructors let 'er pass Levels 4 and 5 if there were issues. Me daughter was quite upset and cried. She felt really down and didn't want to continue with the rest of the sessions. She even asked me not to tell 'er dad about what 'appened. To cheer 'er up, I just assured 'er that it's alright so she can master Level 4, but I'm thinkin' of lettin' 'er finish the remainin' sessions and then switch 'er to a different swim school.

I feel guilty for lettin' a child reach Level 6 and then sendin' 'er back to Level 4. If I could get a refund for the remainin' days, I would 'ave stopped 'er from attendin' the classes immediately. I 'ope this doesn't 'appen to other kids, lettin' them progress and then regress like this.

We hosted our son's second birthday celebration at this lovely swimming school this evening. The staff was absolutely marvelous and incredibly accommodating! We are extremely pleased! Thank you all so very much! Adrian and the kids had a fabulous time!!
Nancy Wright (4/7/25, 12:55 PM):
Fantastic for getting the little ones acquainted with the water. The facility could definitely use a bit of sprucing up. The bathrooms look a bit tired, and the glass could use a good scrubbing. Despite its appearance, it's a great place to introduce the kids to swimming.
Jose Lopez (3/31/25, 9:30 PM):
A necessity for young children who are learning to swim and improving their skills.
Vincent Ortiz (3/31/25, 5:45 AM):
The staff is always so friendly and the place is consistently kept clean.
Rose Davis (3/30/25, 9:49 PM):
Kids First is absolutely brilliant. Natasha is simply smashing, and I am always gobsmacked by the spick and span pool and observation areas. My family and I jolly well adore coming here every week.
Victoria Garcia (3/27/25, 8:33 PM):
My little ones always 'ave such a grand time 'ere, they always tell me it's so lovely and cozy when they get out.. thank you for making this so enjoyable.
