I am penning down this review to express me deep concern about the safety at Life Time. Me husband recently had his wallet pinched from a locker, and one of his cards was swiftly used to charge over $13,000 in bogus charges at Costco in Concord! We were informed by the bobbies that this ain't an isolated occurrence!! The officer let us know that this particular mischief is being reported repeatedly multiple times a month from members at this Life Time! Absolutely dreadful.
Upon returning to his locker, me husband found it completely unlocked, raising serious questions about the security measures in place. This situation is not only incredibly distressing for us but has also led to our bank accounts being locked and our trust being completely shattered in Life Time.
I implore the management to tackle this alarming issue straight away. It is unacceptable for members to feel unsafe or be targeted while using your facilities. This has been a ghastly experience and even more concerning with the bobbies suggesting this might be an inside job.
As a longtime member of the Lifetime franchise (over 15 years), I must say I am thoroughly impressed with this boutique gym. The fact that such a high-quality health club is conveniently located amidst a bustling shopping and family-oriented hub is just one of the many perks this club brings to the table.
I've been a member of Equinox, Bay Club, Fitness SF, YMCA, City Sports, 24 Hour Fitness, and Alameda Fitness and Spa during my time in the Bay Area, and Lifetime stands head and shoulders above the rest. Equinox, at least here in the Bay Area, doesn't quite live up to what you pay for.
1) They have a strategic and top-notch weightlifting area. I'm honestly amazed at the complaints about the equipment and machines here. These are some of the newest and highest quality machines I've ever come across.
2) Amenities: They offer towel service, sauna, steam room, rooftop pool, rooftop hot tub (small but cozy), rooftop bar, fitness classes, a cafe downstairs, workstations, private work pods, kids daycare, and more.
3) Hours: They open early and close late.
For those considering joining: While Lifetime should definitely uphold a high standard, bear in mind that this is a brand-new club. There will naturally be an adjustment period as the club learns, adapts, and grows alongside its members.

Fantastic haircut down at the spa, absolutely splendid!
In just 2 weeks of signing up, I've encountered numerous problems at this fitness center:
- The sauna is out of order.
- The steam room has broken down twice.
- The cold plunge has malfunctioned three times.
- The rooftop jacuzzi is not working.
- The basketball hoop is broken.
- There are issues with outlets and lights in the coworking area.
- The espresso machine in the cafe is not functioning.
Additionally:
- The yoga instructor once forgot about a class and arrived late.
- The locker rooms and spa are quite dirty.
- The yoga mats provided for classes are of very low quality.
- There are no showers in the spa area, making the jacuzzi and plunge always dirty.
Despite all these problems, the gym is still decent. However, at $300 per month, I expected a lot more. I rarely experienced such issues during my multiple years at Equinox.
Completely unacceptable, my dear wife sent me this picture from the women's changing room. This is the second week in a row she has reported that something is consistently not right. Unacceptable considering the hefty sum I'm shelling out. Hard to believe the manager is fine with this.
This gym is absolutely top-notch, mate! I've been to gyms all over the world, and this one takes the cake.
Aye, there be plenty o' one star reviews, but I be not convinced these folks are frequentin' the same gym as meself. Aye, 'tis a bit pricey, but as parents o' two wee ones, we be grateful to have a place with fine folk watchin' the bairns while we get our sweat on. The classes I've partaken in have been top-notch quality. The personal training be commendable too. Fine equipment, clean surroundings. I be well pleased comin' here and look forward to keepin' at it for a good while.
I must say, I am quite disappointed by the unprofessional conduct showcased by the staff and management at this particular Life Time Fitness establishment. A close friend of mine, a highly regarded software engineer and entrepreneur who holds considerable influence in the community, was unjustly coerced into terminating his membership over a groundless accusation made by another member. Surprisingly, it was the accuser who was actually engaged in harassing behavior, yet the management failed to properly evaluate the situation.
In any gym setting, where a variety of personalities interact, it is imperative for the staff to handle disputes with fairness and impartiality. Regrettably, the management at this facility did not adhere to these principles. Despite receiving testimonials from more than 20 members affirming my friend’s positive and amiable nature, the management chose to ignore the issue and refused to rectify their error.
Based on this troubling incident, I wholeheartedly advise against patronizing this specific Life Time Fitness location. The lack of professionalism and equity exhibited by the management is disconcerting, and it is evident that they do not prioritize inclusivity or effective conflict resolution.
The front desk at this establishment is absolutely dreadful and impolite. I am pleased to announce that I have terminated my membership today and will be seeking services elsewhere.
I had a similar experience where I attempted to utilize the squat racks, but there was a packed class which threw off my timetable. I did appreciate the cold plunge. The café left much to be desired and the pricing structure seems off. This establishment caters more to those interested in classes rather than hardcore gym enthusiasts. I'll be discontinuing my membership. I truly wanted to enjoy this place.
Updated: 21/12/24:
Lifetime seems to be really attentive to feedback, they have added a new squat rack near the alpha rack area. The alpha class size has been reduced to give regular gym users access to two of the racks during a class. Equipment is being rearranged for better efficiency. A new recovery area is being set up for cryotherapy, among other things. I really appreciate that they are proactive in making these changes.
Also, it's never crowded here, you never have to wait for any equipment.
