If you're on a fitness journey while enjoying the sun in Miami Beach, Crunch Fitness - South Beach could be your go-to gym. Located in the vibrant area of South Beach, this facility boasts various amenities that might enhance your workout experience.
Amenities and Accessibility
Crunch Fitness offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, ensuring everyone can access the gym without hassle. The on-site services include free Wi-Fi, making it easy for members to stay connected or stream their favorite workout playlists. However, remember that a membership is required to fully utilize these facilities.
Mixed Reviews on Customer Service
The customer service at Crunch Fitness has received varying feedback. While many staff members, such as Juan and Anthony, have been praised for their helpfulness and welcoming demeanor, there have been multiple complaints about the rudeness of certain employees. One visitor shared a frustrating experience with a front desk staff member who snapped at them during a simple transaction.
Customer service is critical in the fitness industry; it's essential to feel welcomed when entering a gym. Some reviews highlight a lack of genuine hospitality, stating that the attitude of some employees makes visitors feel unwelcome.
Cleanliness and Maintenance Issues
Several patrons noted that while the gym features a spacious layout and ample equipment, cleanliness has been a concerning issue. Reports of dirty and smelly bathrooms have been mentioned repeatedly, which detracts from an otherwise positive experience. Prospective members should consider this aspect when deciding if Crunch Fitness meets their standards.
Day Pass Dilemmas
For those visiting and eager to try out Crunch's offerings, the day pass might seem like a great option. However, potential visitors should be aware of the fine print: the free day pass is often restricted to local residents. Many have shared experiences where they were denied access despite valid intentions to work out, citing the necessity of proof of residency.
The cost of a day pass is higher than average, sometimes reaching $35, leading many to seek more affordable and accommodating alternatives when traveling.

I reckon the gym is great, however, the management ought to keep up with maintenance on all the machines in the gym to ensure top-notch service quality.

I recently popped into an LA Fitness during my stay in Miami, and let me tell you, considering that a mistake would be an absolute understatement. However, my experience at Crunch was top-notch! The premises were spotless, equipped with a wide array of gear, and incredibly roomy. Both the staff and fellow gym-goers were lovely. I'd easily give it five stars and have already made up my mind to make Crunch my go-to gym on my next Miami escapade.

Just popped in to this spot for the first time, all the way from New York.
Positives:
- Brilliant location near the beach and the heart of South Beach.
- The Aerobics room is top-notch, loads of room to smash out a sweaty workout, just like most spots.
Negatives:
- The locker room leaves a bit to be desired. It's pretty standard and was quite dirty when I visited.
- They've only got small workout towels, so you'll need to bring your own if you want something bigger.
Stephen James (6/18/25, 3:16 AM):
I must say, I find it quite surprising to read some of the negative reviews here. Having recently moved from London and having experienced gyms all around the world, I must say that this gym is one of the best I have had the pleasure of visiting. I am accustomed to spending around $600 a month on memberships, and I can confidently say that the cost of this gym is extremely reasonable compared to LA Fitness. The facilities are clean, modern, and well-maintained. During my frequent visits while house hunting, I was thoroughly impressed by everything this gym has to offer.
There are a couple of minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The overhead lights in the floor fitness area where the mats are located are quite bright and can be a bit distracting. Additionally, the water from the machine tasted strongly of chlorine, so it might be a good idea to have the filter checked. However, overall, this gym is truly magnificent and fantastic. I also noticed that it is very accommodating for individuals with disabilities.
As an Englishman, I would appreciate a more welcoming reception experience rather than a quick scan and go. But that's just my personal preference.
Once my move is complete, I will definitely be joining this gym without hesitation.
Thank you, Crunch!

I popped into the gym yesterday and decided to get myself a membership. The gym is really spacious and well-maintained. The atmosphere is welcoming and everyone I encountered was friendly. I particularly enjoyed the vibes there. Tanya, the lady who helped me sign up, was incredibly kind and helpful. She took the time to explain all the details to me and even cracked a few jokes - she's a star! Definitely the best gym I've visited on South Beach ❤️...
Melissa Martin (6/12/25, 10:32 PM):
The gym seems intriguing. Similar to another review, I encountered some issues with the fine print when trying to obtain a pass. It appears they are specifically targeting South Beach residents at this particular location. As it is the closest one in Dade County to me, I decided to give it a try. They offer a variety of Hoist and FreeMotion equipment that I haven't used in a while. They are probably more high-end than other gyms in South Beach. It could be convenient to have a gym close to Lincoln Road. However, the fine print problem and the pressure to sign up immediately despite what was advertised on the pass are concerning. Additionally, the initial price to start can be a bit steep. I will take these factors into consideration before making a decision.
Russell Turner (6/11/25, 11:23 PM):
I just relocated to South Beach and decided to purchase a day pass online to try out this gym. However, upon arrival, they insisted on proof of residency for the day pass, which I found to be rather silly considering my recent move. Instead, they offered to sell me a guest pass for $40 for the day. Quite an unsatisfactory policy if you ask me. Any other gym would have likely apologized for the confusion and allowed me to enjoy a workout session for the day.
Denise Jones (6/10/25, 10:42 PM):
I ventured for an hour to check out this gym using a complimentary day pass I had, and to my dismay, I was denied entry because I wasn't a Miami Beach local, even though I reside in Miami, Florida. Endured a lengthy commute with crazy traffic and shelled out for parking, only to be refused access after taking preworkout. Frustratingly, no other gyms were available at the time.
Jeffrey Garcia (6/10/25, 8:44 AM):
I popped into this gym over the weekend while on vacation. It was bustling, but fantastically equipped, so there was always equipment available. The cleanliness and maintenance were top-notch. Michael at reception was a delight - so friendly and supportive! If I were a local, this would definitely be my go-to gym.
Scott Hill (6/8/25, 5:14 AM):
It's got all the gear you need and a fab view of the hustle and bustle outside.
However, I was a bit let down by the lack of cleanliness in the changing rooms and showers. It's not what you'd expect from Crunch Fitness, innit?
Roger Adams (6/6/25, 1:10 PM):
So you see "month to month no commitment" on the website, but then in the membership agreement they say "member cannot cancel membership before 90 days"...
I would strongly advise you to steer clear of Crunch Fitness.
Jessica Kim (6/2/25, 2:23 PM):
I am a member of Crunch in FiDi and I recently went to try and work out with my boyfriend who had an online pass. However, when we arrived, the person at the front desk informed us that only local resident IDs were accepted and they would not make any exceptions. I find it disappointing that there is no flexibility to accommodate customers. This experience has made me consider canceling my membership at Crunch altogether.
Nicole Foster (6/2/25, 12:01 PM):
I've been a member at this gym for around 2 years and I believe it's the best value you'll find in South Beach. If you work out in the morning, it's not overly busy, and even during peak hours in the afternoon, it's manageable. The facility is generally clean, with a dedicated cleaning team maintaining its upkeep, and members also contribute to keeping it tidy.
Jordan Nelson (5/30/25, 4:31 AM):
This gym chain deserves only one star, mate, and that's being generous. I was keen on keeping active and working out while on me holiday in Miami Beach. This gym chain offers a free 1-day pass, but you must be a local to use it. What's that all about? I couldn't care less about the pass being free. I was fully prepared to pay for using the facilities and only snagged the free day pass because that's what they promote on their website. It's a proper letdown. I understand Crunch is a budget gym, but it doesn't have to be this rubbish. They could've had my dosh nearly every day for a whole week, along with all the vacationers. A disgrace.
Edit 3 years later:
I'm updating this here review cause, believe it or not, I recently discovered that back then, when I originally posted this, the gym actually responded in an irritating manner.
They were baffled. Well, I reckon I need to spell it out for them. Their management just can't grasp a simple notion: folks want to sweat it out, whether they're locals or just visiting for a spell.
I was denied entry to the gym. Let's forget about that "free" business for a moment.
I went online searching for a nearby gym close to me hotel, looking for a day pass option since I was but a visitor.
On their site, I learned that, in theory, they offer a day pass. Not only that, but in theory, it's a free day pass. Brilliant! Except, that's not the truth...
Let me clear this up: I wasn't anticipating anything for free, but that would've been a bonus.
I left me hotel all set to work out, regardless of having to pay or not.
Lo and behold, unlike any other gym on this planet, unless I'm a local, it's a no-go at this joint. I made a call to this shambles of a business three years ago, and unless things have changed, it's still a shambles.
Charles Foster (5/28/25, 11:43 AM):
I must say, the experience with manager Anthony at this gym was simply dreadful. Despite canceling my membership back in August without ever setting foot inside, I was shocked to receive a hefty bill of $488. The whole situation reeks of immorality and utter disgust.
To make matters worse, they continued to bombard me with infuriating emails and wasted precious months before finally cancelling my membership. Absolutely a nightmare and hands down the worst gym I have ever come across.
Timothy Gutierrez (5/28/25, 8:58 AM):
Even with my fancy black card, I'm not getting in here. Time to make the switch to LA Fitness because clearly my black card ain't worth a damn here.
Joshua Johnson (5/28/25, 3:32 AM):
Oh dear, it sounds like the gentlemen at the gym aren't quite up to standard, do they? 170 a month and your Crunch Membership doesn't work there? How on earth is this establishment still operating, I wonder? It seems they are taking advantage of folks without a care in the world. One can only hope that karma catches up with them. I would strongly advise against parting ways with your hard-earned cash at this place. The gym seems rather subpar with its antiquated equipment. If I could, I'd give it a rating of zero stars.
Sara Hamilton (5/27/25, 3:00 PM):
This place ain't no Equinox, and that's alright with me! It's a solid gym, with gear that actually works and a diverse range of group classes, all for less than a third of the price of those other guys.
Honestly, it's great bang for your buck.
And lemme tell ya... a few of their Zumba teachers are absolute firecrackers, full of energy, and a blast to dance with.
I was close to giving it 5 stars, but they could use more class options on the weekends.
Emma Turner (5/26/25, 4:27 PM):
I felt compelled to drop a shoutout for Juan and Antony.. Every time I hit the gym, they look out for me like no other! From the front desk.. Always ready to assist with anything you require! Top-notch service! 🏋️🏋️🏋️ And in the weightlifting area, coach CAROL is always there to lend a hand! Much appreciated to all of you …
Carolyn Graham (5/26/25, 9:50 AM):
This gym club is my new haven! Having recently relocated from France to Miami in search of a fresh start, I decided to give the gym scene a try for the first time in my life. Upon discovering Crunch's offer of a free 1-day pass, I eagerly took them up on it and attended their boot camp class. To my surprise, I found myself thoroughly enjoying my very first sports session - the hour flew by without me even realizing it! I was truly amazed.
One standout individual at Crunch is Alex, a member of the management team who also serves as an incredible coach. He not only motivates you to push your limits with a great sense of fun, but he's also always there to lend an ear for a chat and provide honest feedback. Alex and his coaching team consistently elevate their classes to new heights, and his reputation is truly exceptional.
The gym itself is fantastic, offering a wide range of equipment and numerous class options to choose from. Despite my initial aversion to physical activities, Crunch has completely transformed my perspective on both fitness and my own body. I am immensely grateful for this positive change. Moreover, the staff are incredibly friendly, particularly shoutout to Francesca (the Zumba coach) and Karine (the pole dance coach) - you ladies are amazing!
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything ❤️❤️❤️
