Located in the heart of Walnut Creek, 24 Hour Fitness offers an extensive range of amenities and services for fitness enthusiasts. This gym is equipped with everything from a swimming pool to a sauna, but members have voiced concerns regarding cleanliness and service. This article will delve into the various aspects of the gym, including service options, accessibility, and the overall atmosphere.
Service Options
The gym provides a variety of on-site services including personal training sessions and group classes. However, members have reported inconsistent access to equipment due to overcrowding. The management has attempted to accommodate the influx of members from the closed Concord location, but issues with blocking off areas for trainers have created frustration among gym-goers. Many feel that their needs are secondary to staff requirements, leading to discontent.
Accessibility
The facility offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance and wheelchair-accessible toilets, ensuring that all members can enjoy the amenities. Unfortunately, feedback indicates that the wheelchair-accessible car park can be congested, especially during peak hours, making it difficult for those needing special accommodations.
Amenities
24 Hour Fitness boasts several features including a basketball court, swimming pool, sauna, and showers. While the pool is frequently praised as a relaxing aspect of the gym, it has faced criticism for cleanliness. Reports of unclean facilities, including hair and debris in the bathrooms, have raised concerns about hygiene standards. Additionally, the sauna has also been criticized for its maintenance, with some members reporting unpleasant odors.
Membership Required
Access to the gym's facilities requires a membership, which many find reasonably priced. Yet, disappointment arises when new members encounter rude staff or issues with guest passes. Instances where day pass policies change unexpectedly have left potential clients feeling unwelcome.
Atmosphere and Cleanliness
The atmosphere at 24 Hour Fitness is a mixed bag. While the equipment is generally well-organized, complaints about crowded conditions persist, especially during peak hours. Some users report a lack of courtesy among members, with weights left scattered throughout the gym. Furthermore, the cleaning crew has received mixed reviews—while some members appreciate their efforts, others cite ongoing cleanliness issues that detract from the overall experience.
Conclusion
Overall, while 24 Hour Fitness in Walnut Creek presents a wide array of amenities, significant issues related to service quality, cleanliness, and congestion persist. Potential members should weigh these concerns alongside the gym's features to determine if it meets their individual needs. In a competitive fitness market, improvements in customer service and facility maintenance could help restore this location's reputation as a top-tier gym.

The Walnut Creek Super Sport is going downhill fast, mate. It's always a mess, with rubbish overflowing, hair all over the loo floors and stairs, wonky blinds hanging about, and frequently lacking supplies. When I inquire about the state of affairs, they claim they're on the lookout for more cleaning staff. There's been a lot of staff changes and no signs of things getting better. The Concord spot shut down, so those folks are flocking to Walnut Creek, making cleanliness even more crucial. It's high time for the higher-ups to drop by and see the place for themselves.

I really 'aven't got a clue what to expect when I pop round 'ere. I only swing by on the weekends. I can anticipate circling the car park for about 5 minutes in the mornin' (7-10am) hunting for a spot. The locker rooms can be right tidy, or a total circus act. They 'ave a grand floor plan though, and it's a doddle to 'op onto the equipment. The gear itself is kept up right well - major plus.
Nathan Clark (5/6/25, 12:35 AM):
Hey there mate! Could you pick up your blower, please? Also, how come your first aid kit doesn't have an ice pack? Cheers!
Alice Martin (5/4/25, 10:00 PM):
Lovely renovated gym with a basketball court and a plethora of group fitness class choices. If you enjoy a game of 5 on 5 pick up basketball, you'll never be short of a match here!
Thomas Bennett (5/4/25, 9:37 PM):
This gym used to be smashing, but the new management seems to be falling short. The changing rooms and loo are absolutely minging, and the staff is a tad cheeky.
George James (5/4/25, 11:43 AM):
Parking hard to find most days. Showers are a mess (hair all over walls and floor). Staff unhelpful, membership conditions unclear, always told to speak with a Manager who is never around. But the worst part was the kids club, unwelcoming staff in a bad mood, like "don’t bring a child here." I strongly suggest reconsidering before signing up for this gym.
Stephanie Wright (5/1/25, 3:10 AM):
I would not recommend this gym. The locker room is absolutely vile and you definitely need to bring flip flops. It's honestly the dirtiest gym I've ever visited. I had no idea it was this bad. The hot tub was murky and filled with hair. I joined thinking it was a decent place, but it's actually quite grimy. This is hands down the most repulsive gym I've experienced.
Mark Gutierrez (4/30/25, 2:14 PM):
I absolutely adore it! I was a member of the Y.MCA in Pleasant Hill, CA for over 30 years... but sadly, it no longer meets my requirements, mainly due to the removal of our beloved Sauna. I made the decision to explore something fresh... and I'm delighted that I did. The new gym I joined has a Sauna, Steam room, hot tub, pool, and an abundance of equipment. Their operating hours are from 5am to 11pm every day! I love having access to a 24-hour facility with friendly and accommodating staff.
Jason Fisher (4/27/25, 1:50 PM):
This gym used to be smashing, but the new management seems to be a bit rubbish. The changing rooms and loos are absolutely filthy, and the staff is a tad rude.
Katherine Price (4/26/25, 11:09 PM):
This place has really gone downhill. There's a homeless guy sleeping at the back of the studio, and there's urine all around his seat that's causing the whole place to stink. I told the staff about it, but they didn't seem to care much – one of them was even half asleep himself. This is completely unsanitary! The staff should be trained to actually give a damn about the gym they work at. What's wrong with your management? This is something that should be reported to the City Health Department. Also, the bathrooms are barely functional and often clogged.
Amelia Roberts (4/26/25, 10:19 PM):
There be a Trainer who consistently cordon off the same area every morning. On several occasions, I be asked how long I be using certain items that she be needin'. I never say nothin', but this mornin' be the final straw. The equipment in this room be from the Concord gym where I used to go. I use the gear in the right corner that she has surrounded by chairs. She told me I be inconveniencin' her and to find an alternative. She don't be usin' that equipment for her clients. The front desk told me she be an employee, so do I be reckonin' that an employee takes precedence over a payin' member? I be weary of bein' harassed constantly. It weren't me choice to move to Walnut Creek after the Concord gym shut down. I also seen her do this to many other members. This be not acceptable. I go to the gym to do me workouts without bein' told I be inconveniencin' an employee.
Johnny Sanchez (4/26/25, 8:22 PM):
The main reason to opt for a super-sport gym pass is the Towel service they offer, which is top-notch! However, it didn't quite meet my expectations. I was exercising at the super-sport gym in Livermore, and my expectations were raised very high. The gym tends to be quite crowded, so you may find yourself waiting for equipment at times. On the plus side, there are plenty of parking spaces available! The fitness facilities are located on the second floor, with exercise mats neatly arranged in the room.
Dylan Morris (4/25/25, 12:01 AM):
You get what you pay for, right? Decent gym, but be aware of equipment problems. I came across a shaky machine that's about to give way (not secured properly with bolts and showing cracks around them). I reported it to management, but two weeks later, no action or warning signs.
Also, if you stroll along this row of equipment (weights section), you'll notice that none are properly secured (similar to the pictures displayed).
Brian Gutierrez (4/24/25, 2:31 PM):
I must say, I'm quite chuffed with this gym that offers an extensive array of facilities. From a plethora of well-maintained cardio machines to a thoughtfully curated schedule of cardio classes, not to mention the pool and steam room – it truly ticks all the boxes. Although I may not utilize every amenity available, the bang for your buck is simply splendid. I've had the pleasure of being a member for over 25 years now! Having visited numerous gyms across the Bay Area, I can confidently say that this one has a special place in my heart.
Judy Perez (4/23/25, 7:11 AM):
I truly adore this gym. The pool is absolutely brilliant, and it's just delightful to unwind after a rigorous swim in the sauna and/or steam room. The fact that the pool is accessible 24/7 is simply incredible, especially as my sleeping patterns are quite unusual. Though the gym is currently closed until April 16th, 2024, I have no doubt that it will return better than ever, and I am eagerly anticipating its reopening!
Cheryl Sullivan (4/22/25, 2:46 PM):
This gym is one of my top picks, I adore all the reception staff, they are truly amazing people. However, it seems like the manager, Mike, might be facing some issues. Yelling at employees in public is not a good look, and while I understand that being in charge can be challenging, I believe many experienced managers would concur that this behavior is unacceptable. Personally, I would not want to be part of his team.
Jason Allen (4/21/25, 11:01 AM):
I 'ave been a member since 2023. It 'as become very filthy. The mens' locker room is filled with rubbish. The loos are dreadful and the showers as well. It is becoming a proper pigsty.
Benjamin Martinez (4/20/25, 5:44 AM):
I 'ad a right disappointing experience with the customer service at the front desk. I signed up for a year-long online plan, but they rejected my guest, who lives out of town, from receiving a day pass. This situation was frustrating and not what I expected. I 'ope they can improve their service in the future.
Heather Lee (4/19/25, 4:39 AM):
All I wanted was a simple tour of the facilities to see if this place would be a good fit for me, but the salesperson wouldn't stop questioning me about my interests, which honestly, is none of her business. I finally gave in and told her about my interests, but she continued with the questions, insisting on making recommendations for classes, etc.
I wasn't prepared to answer over 20 questions just to see the facilities. I didn't want or need a "personalized" experience - I just wanted to have a look around and see what the place was like. I didn't want to engage in her questioning, and when I expressed my wish to just tour the facilities, she started getting snarky.
There are plenty of other gyms for me to choose from, and this sales approach feels very outdated (the 1990s are calling!!!). It seemed like she had already decided I wasn't a good fit before I even set foot in the gym. Their loss, not mine...
And let's not forget the fact that you have to endure the smell of fried chicken every time you enter and leave the gym, except on Sundays. Yuck...
Janice Barnes (4/16/25, 7:57 PM):
My dear fiancé has recently landed a new role merely a mile away from this establishment. We thought we would embark on a trial pass to gauge the hustle and bustle, with the intent of committing to a yearly membership. To our surprise, as we encountered the gal at the front desk, she peered at us and rather bluntly declared that unless we dwell three miles or closer to this fine establishment, our passes would not be deemed valid. We find ourselves residing a modest 5.1 miles away, for your information. There was no warm greeting or salutation, only a suggestion to perhaps consider Concord as it is more local to us. I personally commute to the city, while my beloved is stationed a mere mile from this gym. It so happens that we are both in sound financial standing. Yet, we were somehow singled out as if attempting some form of deceit. It left a rather distasteful impression. Nevertheless, due to its convenient proximity, I may still opt to procure a membership. Alas, I must confess that in all my years, I have never felt quite as unwelcome at an establishment as I did on this occasion.
