Leonard Rivera (5/20/25, 6:07 AM):
Plenty of parking space available. Not a fan of having to pay for day use, unlike most other parking lots I've visited in the Sierra. The parking lot and campgrounds are right off Highway 88, but during late summer 2023, the signage was either missing or not very clear.

I recently hiked the Round Top loop (Round Top Lake --> Round Top --> Lake Winnemucca), covering a distance of 7 miles. The trail is mostly easy, with some Class 3 sections once you reach Round Top. If you're ascending from Round Top Lake, you'll come across several user trails. Opt for the left route at the final one, which winds around the front side facing Lake Winnemucca. This path will guide you through an easy Class 2 climb to the false summit. Descend the southeast slope from there and navigate any Class 3 chimneys to reach the true summit. Choosing the right path from that last divergence can lead to a less straightforward route that involves unnecessary climbing.
