Xcel is THE PLACE to train if you want to become a champion in either gi or no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!! Marcio and Jim are top-notch instructors, my son gained more knowledge from Marcio in just 2 weeks than he did in 6 months at other places!! The gym is consistently well-maintained and the students have a strong sense of camaraderie, like a tight-knit family rather than mere classmates. This dojo truly stands out as the ultimate training facility for all your martial arts aspirations!!!

My lad Luis began his journey at Xcel last summer and officially joined the Xcel Team in July 2012. I initially enrolled him in jiu jitsu to help him with self-control and discipline through the art of martial arts. Luis has shown remarkable progress not only in self-control and discipline but also as a warrior with fervor. He has gained extensive knowledge about jiu jitsu and the essence of the sport/martial art. The instructors at Xcel are skilled and enthusiastic, and it clearly shines through their students. If you are seeking a place with commitment, passion, guidance, and genuine sportsmanship...XCEL is the place where you will discover all of those qualities and more!

What sets this school apart from the rest in the area is that the instructor is a World Champion who jets off to other states and countries for training and high-level competitions. I've been part of the Xcel family for just over a year now. Head Coach Marcio Silva and his team bring a great deal of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to each class. Whether you're interested in competing, getting in shape, learning self-defense techniques, or all of the above, Xcel is the place to be. It's really hard to put into words in a Google review just how amazing Xcel is in terms of the environment, quality of instruction, enjoyment, and building relationships with the staff and other students. I can guarantee that if you take Coach Marcio up on his generous free trial offer, you'll quickly see for yourself exactly what I'm trying to convey in this review.

I enrolled me boys, 8 and 10 years old, when they expressed an interest in martial arts. They really enjoy attending classes. I appreciate how the instructors engage with all the children. After each class, me kids come out with a huge grin, a positive mindset, and are eager to return for more.

I've been training with Marcio for quite a few years now. The commitment he shows towards jiujitsu, teaching, and his students is genuine and unparalleled. At Xcel, there are classes catering to every skill level, and individuals of all ages and fitness capabilities. It's not just your run-of-the-mill gym where you're just another face in the crowd. Instead, you become part of a close-knit family where you truly belong.

Michael Cox (4/29/25, 2:52 AM):
Xcel BJJ is unequivocally one of the finest emerging BJJ academies in the region. Just take a gander at their competition snapshots on the website. I commenced my training there on their inaugural day and have not looked back since. At Xcel, you receive more than just instruction; you cultivate friendships and connections. It's akin to a large family, and new individuals are welcomed with open arms. The coaching is exceptional, regularly tested in competition. A little tip: if you wish to visit for a day, the coach will often comp your session. However, be forewarned – you'll likely become hooked! I dare you to elevate your skills at Xcel!
Keith White (4/28/25, 11:13 PM):
A lil' over a year back, I set out to find a school to lace up my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gloves with a couple of goals in mind. First off, I was keen on training with the cream of the crop in the area so I could soak up knowledge and grow alongside the best of 'em. Secondly, I was lookin' for a place with a real family vibe. Been tangled up in martial arts since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. It's my passion, my pastime. I reckon, if you wanna better yourself in any martial art discipline, it's key to train under top-notch leaders who keep expandin' their know-how and pushin' themselves to grow. I'd been puttin' in the hours for the past 6 years in other disciplines, set the bar high when it came to what I considered a top-notch school worth steppin' into. Checked out a few spots in the area for BJJ but didn't quite find what I was after. But from day one at Xcel, I was hooked. Marcio Silva, the owner and head honcho, has a handful of clear goals and he consistently demonstrates his dedication to 'em, day in, day out. He's always striving to better himself as a champ and he wants his students to learn and progress right alongside him. You can see the fire, the grit, the drive in his students - whether they're trainin' to scrap, to compete, to get in shape, or just for fun - everyone's pushin' to learn and evolve. The actions of the folks hittin' the mats are a direct reflection of his leadership. The school's still in its early days, growin' quick in terms of size, quality, and what they offer. It's been a thrill watchin' the school take shape and carve out its own identity under Marcio's guidance. I've brought mates and kinfolk to the school and they've been welcomed with open arms. Proud as punch to call this place my second home.
Bryan Lopez (4/22/25, 7:55 PM):
Best of luck to you lads in all your endeavors.
Stephen Rivera (4/21/25, 5:53 AM):
I reside in Baltimore, yet I've had the pleasure of training at Xcel BJJ multiple times whilst visiting my family in the vicinity. It has quickly become a highlight of my trips. The folks there are fantastic! They have consistently welcomed me with open arms. The quality of instruction is exceptional, and the facility is pristine. If it were possible, I'd train here daily. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Patricia Thomas (4/16/25, 9:00 PM):
Some o' the finest trainin' I 'ave ever received, top-notch folks to train alongside, and exceptional instructors to learn from. After only a few months with 'em, I took 'ome both divisions in me first tournament. I highly recommend this gym for Brazilian jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts instruction. Cheers!
Angela Ramos (4/15/25, 6:17 AM):
I am a 32-year-old electrical engineer and have been a member at Xcel Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for about 9 months. I feel fortunate to have a school of such high quality so near to home. Coach Marcio Silva brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the mat each and every day. If you are keen on learning the art of BJJ with a fantastic group of individuals who treat you like family and a Coach who is an exceptional instructor and takes the time to demonstrate the details that will enable you to "Xcel," consider Xcel! My journey in BJJ has just started, and I genuinely believe that I have selected a superb school to pursue my goals. The students, the staff, and Coach Marcio set the bar very high and make it straightforward and thrilling to learn. My experience at Xcel has been excellent, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
