Based on the age group that frequents this facility during the day, the young staff members are quite thoughtless, impolite, and seem to lack respect for personal boundaries. The indoor pool hours during the daytime are extremely limited, yet a young employee bluntly remarked, "That's what you get, it's a 'rec center'!" These scarce hours are the only times my age group can access the indoor pool. Forget about Fridays, and if you dare to voice any concerns, be prepared for backlash! Without the option of paying an "additional fee" for Yoga classes, I would strongly advise against visiting this center. An off-duty employee even found it acceptable (after speaking disrespectfully to me) to chuckle while grabbing my arm! Keep your hands to yourself at all times!

Lovely playground. Fantastic spot for the little ones to have a jolly good time.
Riley Watson (3/27/25, 6:34 PM):
Cheap, fun, and family-friendly! No matter who you are, they treat you like their own.
Abigail Robinson (3/27/25, 4:35 PM):
I'm with child and was looking forward to a dip in the indoor pool, but was informed it's strictly for exercise purposes, which was my primary intention. There was only one individual using the pool for a gentle workout. I must say, I was quite let down by the general atmosphere and the discourteous manner in which I was addressed.
Emma Sanchez (3/27/25, 12:12 PM):
This recreation center 'as somethin' for everyone! Free weights, tennis, indoor/outdoor pools, volleyball, basketball.....
Frank Baker (3/27/25, 2:04 AM):
Indoor outdoor pools. Basketball courts, exercise equipment, indoor outdoor tracks. Amazing outdoor playground. Both pools have a low dive, outdoor pool has three slides. Have an outdoor volleyball court with sand. Great place for the family at a great price.
Mary Murphy (3/26/25, 10:52 AM):
A splendid spot for the youngsters to convene, yet it does possess a downside; if your young one lacks funds, they may be denied entry when the weather turns chilly or rainy, despite it being designated for the children.
Sarah Perry (3/25/25, 3:06 PM):
A six-year-old absolutely adores swimming and playing at this place.
Joseph Price (3/24/25, 8:08 PM):
I sincerely do not even want to leave one star, but that is the minimum option available. I have never been so upset and angry. We had just entered and paid $17. We placed our belongings on a chair, walked over to the pool, and as soon as we started descending the ladder, they blew the whistle and ordered everyone to get out. There was no refund or chance to return another day. Just to clarify, the weather was perfect when we paid, and the forecast did not predict rain until 6. Do not waste your money. I can understand the no refund policy, but offering a raincheck would have been a reasonable alternative. This is the first time I have ever had to write a negative review for any establishment.
Christian Perez (3/23/25, 10:45 PM):
A marvelous spot to visit if you fancy jogging, swimming, shooting hoops, and the playground is an enjoyable place for the little ones.
Sara Richardson (3/23/25, 8:38 AM):
I do love coming here to exercise with me mates and join classes to keep meself fit. During the summer, the car park tends to get a bit crowded with the pool being open, but it's jolly good for the kiddos to have birthday bashes on the playground!
Timothy Gutierrez (3/22/25, 12:15 AM):
The staff is super friendly, the bathrooms and showers are spotless, and there are plenty of activities to keep you healthy and entertained!
Steven Ortiz (3/21/25, 7:29 AM):
The entire family adores this establishment...Entertainment for all!
Kathleen Reynolds (3/20/25, 3:51 AM):
I 'ad to go to the coomes tonight because my son is legally blind and 'as 'ad multiple eye surgeries. 'e was in the pool area of this facility and got the law called on 'im because 'e stumbled while wiping 'is eyes. The women staff were very rude and the men, well, the only thing they were worried about was lookin' at the girlfriend. So basically, what it boils down to is that my son was judged for bein' different. And I ask you, if you 'ad a child that was legally blind and 'e stumbled, would it be okay with you that someone called the law on 'im because 'e was different, because 'e couldn't see, because they felt safe to assume the worst? In any event, the staff at this facility, before involvin' law enforcement, need not to assume without knowin' for a fact.
Nicholas Nelson (3/19/25, 2:08 AM):
I went to the recreation center with my lady to have a swim. After we were informed that we couldn't use the Rail Link as it had been replaced due to damage caused by people misusing it, I got out of the pool. While wiping my eyes, I stumbled a bit. They called the cops and accused us of being on drugs because I'm visually impaired and had gotten some chlorine in my eyes which needed wiping. One of the lifeguards was leering at my partner when she came out of the changing room in her swimsuit. He sat down and kept staring at her throughout our time there, looking away whenever I caught him in the act. She changed back into regular clothes, and he promptly left.
The staff were terribly impolite and unhelpful. We each paid $5 but could only use half of the pool and were restricted to just jumping off the diving board. I had to struggle to climb out of the pool as I couldn't use the steps and was told not to hold onto the railing. When we took ibuprofen, they claimed we were taking narcotics. The male staff members seemed creepy, and the female staff were unpleasant. I strongly advise against visiting this place if you have any disabilities or impairments.
Kyle Myers (3/18/25, 9:04 AM):
My wee lass is 18 months old, and a lifeguard told us we couldn't join her in the kitty pool. They said she had to venture in alone while we sat by the side watching. She's just a toddlin' 1 1/2 years old...she cannae go in solo, she needs help! But later on, two different lifeguards reassured us that we could indeed assist her in the kitty pool, no bother at all. So, we had to keep her by the edge while she wailed with a hankering to paddle in the middle and frolic with the other bairns. And if that wasn't enough, come 3pm, the kitty pool was teeming with more kids than ever, and there was no lifeguard in sight. One of the guards had to LEG IT from the other end where the slides are to blow the whistle at a child in the kitty pool. Unbelievable, if ye ask me.
Julie Sullivan (3/18/25, 7:42 AM):
Exquisitely crafted and meticulously upkept. Abingdon's premier offering to the health, wellness, and fitness of locals in the region. Never too packed and unfailingly welcoming.
Lawrence Simmons (3/17/25, 3:53 PM):
What a lovely spot, with courteous young folks on duty, notably the lifeguards who are vigilant and tactful in upholding the regulations. It's incredibly welcoming for families.
Danielle Campbell (3/16/25, 12:57 PM):
Always spotless and with a friendly staff.. highly suggest a visit for a workout, a jog, and a swim.
Joyce Garcia (3/16/25, 12:01 PM):
The recreation center truly lived up to its advertisement, and the young staff was fantastic. The swimming pools were well-maintained, and there were plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. A big shoutout to lifeguard Jordan for his outstanding job.
