I've been bouldering at the Studio since 2018 and it's been a blast. Definitely a spot to check out for some quality top-rope or lead climbing, but the bouldering area can be a bit cramped with that peculiar "bubble wall" feature upstairs. Getting here via public transit is quite convenient, and if you're driving, there are metered parking spots available as well as two parking garages on nearby blocks. Cheers!

Climbs can be quite perplexing sometimes, with colors that are too similar. It gives off a disorganized vibe and doesn't really capture the essence of a Touchstone gym in my opinion.
Rose Ward (6/1/25, 10:46 AM):
Fantastic team, brilliant spot, walls aplenty. Such a plethora of top-notch climbing choices; be it solo sends or group hangs. With routes for beginners and hardcore crushers alike, this gym truly hits the mark.
Jerry Cruz (5/29/25, 5:02 PM):
Absolutely adore this spot! The community vibe is top-notch, with some seriously rad climbers and staff.
Joshua Reynolds (5/28/25, 3:29 PM):
Absolutely smashing routes, mate! The vibes are spot on, and if you fancy hiring some gear, it won't break the bank. Plenty of ways to get a good workout in. I'll definitely be returning for more. Cheers!

I've only been climbing for a little over a month now and I must say, the experience has been absolutely fabulous! The staff at this climbing gym are incredibly friendly and always ready to lend a hand. The fellow climbers are so supportive and encouraging as well. I would wholeheartedly recommend this gym to anyone looking to start their climbing journey!

Brilliant spot, quite the unique arrangement in an old theatre. My initial go at a bouldering gym, and it was well worth it, I must say. Such a blast challenging my muscle power and endurance on the walls.

The locker room was spotless and neat. The sauna had a rather peculiar scent when I popped in, so I reckon it hadn't been cleaned recently. Moreover, it seemed like no one frequents it, which may explain the situation.

The Studio Climbing in San Jose truly feels like a second home, mate. When you compare it to places like Pacific Pipe, with their more corporate, warehouse-type feel, The Studio stands out with its warm, community-driven ambiance that just beckons you to stick around. The staff is always a friendly lot, the routes are consistently creative and novel, and the layout makes it a breeze to mingle with fellow climbers.

While it may not be the largest gym around, that's all part of its appeal—it's a place where familiar faces greet you, the climbing challenges are top-notch, and you genuinely sense that you're part of a tight-knit climbing tribe. If you're after a gym that strikes a fine balance between tough routes, a laid-back atmosphere, and a strong sense of community, then The Studio is the place to be, no doubt.
Sean Edwards (5/24/25, 9:14 PM):
The climbing gym is awesome, but finding parking can be a nightmare. Sometimes I just prefer to drive over to Dogpatch instead.
Hannah Watson (5/23/25, 5:33 PM):
Amazing climbing gym! The variety of climbers is top-notch, creating a wonderfully sociable vibe. Whether you're into bouldering, top rope, lead climbing, or just looking to get a good workout in, this club/gym is the place to be.
David Parker (5/23/25, 4:49 PM):
I popped by around 7-8pm on a Monday. It felt more like a hangout spot rather than a hardcore workout space. The sauna is mixed-gender, unlike the other Touchstone gyms where they have separate facilities for men and women. The sauna worked fine. Oh, and remember to bring your swimsuit or big towels with you as the ones they offer are too small for wrapping around an average-sized adult body. Plus, you have to walk through the lobby/check-in area to reach the sauna from the locker room.

For a more tranquil experience, I'd recommend going during school or work hours to avoid the crowds.
Grace Kelly (5/23/25, 12:12 PM):
Alright mate, you can't just go for a "Free Climb". You need to enroll in a class.
