Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street: A Comprehensive Review

If you're considering joining a gym in Boise, Idaho, the Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street may have crossed your mind. This fitness center has garnered a mix of reviews and insights, particularly regarding accessibility, membership requirements, and overall gym experience.

Accessibility Features

One of the standout aspects of Idaho Fitness Factory is its commitment to accessibility. The facility boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easy for all members to navigate the gym comfortably. This attention to inclusivity sets a welcoming tone for those who may require special accommodations during their workouts.

Membership Requirement and Pricing

While the gym offers convenient access and a decent selection of equipment, some visitors have expressed concerns about recent changes in membership pricing. Initially attracting members with a low monthly fee of around $15, many gym-goers were surprised by a subsequent price increase, leading to mixed feelings. Despite these changes, some continue to find value in their memberships, particularly given that the facility is open 24 hours.

The Beeping Issue and Equipment Quality

A notable complaint among members is the incessant beeping from cardio machines. Many reported that the constant beeping became overwhelming, detracting from their workout experience. On a positive note, most members agreed that the equipment quality had improved significantly, with many new machines recently installed. However, past issues with broken equipment led to frustration, as some members experienced long waits for repairs.

Facility and Environment

The environment at Idaho Fitness Factory is described as clean and spacious. With multiple rooms available, members can find areas designated for specific workouts or privacy during their sessions. Some reviews indicated the need for better ventilation, with suggestions to improve airflow within the facility. While there are positive remarks about the friendly staff and the gym's overall cleanliness, a few experiences highlighted the importance of staff professionalism. Disappointment arose from interactions with staff who seemed less-than-welcoming.

Overall Experience and Recommendations

In summary, the Idaho Fitness Factory on State Street is considered a good option for those seeking a budget-friendly gym with 24-hour access. However, potential members should weigh the pros and cons. If you prioritize accessibility and a diverse range of equipment, this gym might suit your needs. With membership required and a continuously evolving atmosphere, it's advisable to visit and assess whether this facility aligns with your personal fitness goals. Overall, your experience may vary based on timing and individual expectations, making a firsthand visit essential before committing.

It has everything that I need for me humble workout.

The best gym I ever left! I know it's a bit odd to write about leaving a gym, but I believe that the cancellation process can be a good indication of how a business operates. If a gym tries to sneak in unexpected cancellation fees, or requires you to pay for extra months, or makes you feel guilty about quitting, then that is NOT a good gym!

I'm happy to say that canceling my membership at IFF was extremely simple, and it shows that they are a fantastic gym. The staff was as friendly as ever, and we even shared a few jokes as I signed the cancellation paperwork.

Why did I decide to leave? It wasn't because of the gym itself. This is probably the best gym I've ever been to. It has top-notch equipment, an amazing free weight section, two squat racks, and even a punching bag. Everyone is incredibly friendly, and the staff makes you feel like part of the gym family. The only reason I quit is because I moved just 3 blocks away from the YMCA. In this instance, I prefer to simply walk to the Y instead of driving 10 minutes to IFF.

I'm very confident that if I ever tire of the Y, I'll return to IFF because it is truly awesome.

Carly Doan is by far the finest manager to have around when I pop in for a workout!

I 'ad been searchin' for a gym to workout at for a bit and Idaho Fitness Factory 'ad everythin' I was lookin' for. Super helpful staff, great equipment, low prices, and 'em bein' open 24 hours a day is really convenient. Definitely recommend gettin' a membership 'ere!
Abigail Scott (5/30/25, 12:45 PM):
I would give negative stars if I could, this establishment is very unprofessional. I had called back in November to cancel my membership; the individual working said they'd cancel it for me. Well, I look at my bank statements and lo and behold, my membership hadn't been canceled, and my account was charged $110 for my membership I was told was canceled months ago. I called today, spoke to an associate named Tiffany and she said I needed to fill out the cancellation form through my email, I submitted the form. But, as I told Tiffany, I never received this form back in November when I initially had called to cancel. They refused to refund my account even though this was a reckless mistake made by one of their associates. Highly unprofessional, I needed that money to pay my power bill.

I popped in for the group fitness classes! Absolutely adore the U-Jam session! Hoping they bring in more. I appreciate being able to bring along pals with the drop-in rate. The facility has been impeccably clean and top-notch.
Edward Ross (5/26/25, 12:21 AM):
The Idaho Fitness Factory on State St is simply splendid, I must say. The abundance of space is truly remarkable. I find myself particularly fond of the two additional rooms, especially the spacious one at the back with a wide array of kettlebells and ample room for jump roping or push-ups. Even amidst the bustling winter months, there remains a generous availability of machines and weights.
Russell Diaz (5/24/25, 10:54 PM):
Fantastic gym, I must say. No grievances to report. It may not be the largest or most top-notch facility, but at just $15 per month, one can hardly grumble. It possesses all the necessary equipment for my workouts (which, truth be told, are quite basic in nature). The cleanliness is top-notch, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend you pay it a visit!
Beverly Edwards (5/22/25, 9:08 AM):
I've been a member on and off for about 3 years now. Recently made the switch to this location since I started working downtown. It's not too shabby! The staff is always polite and accommodating, and the bathrooms are kept clean. The machines here are a bit older compared to the Fairview location that I was starting to get used to (after a struggle, mind you). But I don't really mind the older machines here!
Catherine Reyes (5/21/25, 12:28 AM):
Absolutely brilliant gym! All the folks who work here are so lovely. The class instructors truly take the time to understand where each person is at and tailor the classes to be both motivating and challenging for everyone. I would highly recommend anyone in search of a new gym to pop in and give it a go. Cheers!
Walter Baker (5/16/25, 9:52 AM):
Fantastic gym! The staff is brilliant. I adore that it's open 24 hours. It's exceptionally tidy and reasonably priced.
Bradley Reynolds (5/11/25, 1:46 AM):
This gym is absolutely brilliant, just perfect for my hubby and me. We enjoy a bit of everything, from cardio to box jumps, deadlifts, and even yoga... this gym truly offers it all!
They kindly allowed us to sample a class for free and we both truly adored it! The large windows at the front of the building let in plenty of sunlight, creating a lovely natural light ambiance while working out on the cardio machines... And with a view of Taco Bell, it gives you that extra motivation! Overall, a fabulous gym!
Rachel Myers (5/7/25, 1:29 PM):
The staff at this gym are absolutely lovely and really go out of their way to help. The gym is of a decent size, making it less intimidating for beginners or those who feel a bit self-conscious, yet it never feels too packed. The monthly fee is fantastic, and with no long-term contract, it's a breeze to cancel without any added pressure.
Patricia Young (5/7/25, 2:12 AM):
I absolutely adore the gym. The staff are just fantastic with their customer service! I've been a member of this gym since they opened their State St branch. I simply can't picture myself working out anywhere else. I've also taken part in their group classes, which were not only enjoyable but also provided an excellent workout. I highly recommend this gym to everyone!
Lauren Wright (5/6/25, 11:17 AM):
I absolutely adore this gym! It's neat, budget-friendly, and never too packed!
Amelia Richardson (5/6/25, 8:44 AM):
The gym is extremely roomy and airy. It's spotless, with individual spaces for people who prefer to exercise in seclusion or want to watch their TVs and follow the workout videos that are complimentary. I love coming here, and the staff is exceedingly knowledgeable and amicable.
Jesse Anderson (5/6/25, 8:19 AM):
After a WHOLE YEAR of those treadmills being out of order, they finally fixed everything. But right after, they go and say they're gonna DOUBLE the monthly membership fee, while still keeping that $40 annual charge. The gym just ain't worth the price no more.

When something breaks down in there, it's pretty much done for - they slap on an "out of order" sign and forget about it. And then there's this $40 "maintenance" fee every year on top of the monthly dues, but it's pretty obvious it ain't going towards fixing anything. So where's that money really going, huh?
Tyler Lewis (5/5/25, 7:00 PM):
The classes really kick my butt, but I feel amazing afterward! However, the drinking fountains need to be colder... actually, the entire gym should be cooler. Let's crank up the AC! We're here to work out and that makes people hot, right?
Jason Sullivan (5/5/25, 3:49 PM):
Inexpensive. Open at all times. Personnel available for a few hours during the week. Occasionally, matters are not promptly attended to.
Barbara Allen (5/4/25, 8:49 AM):
A jolly good crowd, the staff are smashing, spick and span! And to top it off, a complete array of exercise gear, separate aerobics and training quarters, plus open around the clock!
